I have come to find that Tumblr layouts are a bit more rad than WordPress. But it’s not really ideal to lose all my blogs on this site. Does anyone know how to easily transfer my posts from this blog onto another?

i was able to spend 10 days in my favorite place on earth; marquette michigan. boyfriend and i spent a long day of travel that proved to be completely worth it. marquette has always been filled with the most beautiful of things – lake superior and fairy tale beaches, the smell of fresh air like no where else, family nestled in log cabins, farmers markets and local art galleries, a plethora of local restaurants varying from cozy cafes to mediterranean to irish pubs and local breweries (including my favorite: blueberry beer), friday night fish fry’s, and the list goes on and on…

traveling back to california was quite possibly the hardest experience of leaving home i have ever had. tears streamed down my cheeks for hours and i stared out the various airplane windows and my insides ached even more.

despite the ache of leaving some place so wonderful, i’m really trying hard to focus on the beauty of where i am and what the lord has in store. i know he is faithful and i know i am perfectly in his peaceful plan right where i am…

Nailpolish

Lately I’ve been really intrigued by nailpolish. I received a $25 gift card a few weeks ago from the church I work at to celebrate “Administrative Assistant Week” – and I’ve been using the free dollars to buy new colors for my nails! I got really excited to find a light watery blue…but it came out more bright than expected. Surprisingly, I’ve been getting a lot of compliments. Strange.

Days go by and I just can’t quite seem to catch a moment to stop, be still, and just think. Today was Mothers Day, and needless to say I have incredible mammas all around me who I am so blessed to celebrate. From a hippy mamma who has known me since I was 3, to a beautiful mamma who raised my wonderful boyfriend, to the most wonderful, sweet, loving mamma I have ever known (my own mother, lisa bee) – I have so much to be thankful for. But despite the sweet, tender holiday of celebrating the most powerful people (in my opinion) on this earth – I had to work a full day at the most hectic, insane restaurant (in my opinion) in town. Wait lists, drunk women, happy families, screaming children, hustling servers, feet…so…sore… – but amidst all of this, the most unexpected thing. I looked up from the basket of silverware I was unloading in the front of the restaurant as I noticed the most amazing smell come from outside. The hostess stand had quieted for a moment as the main doors took a pause in opening with customers pouring in, and I turned my head to glance out the window. Rain. It was falling so soft and heavy at the same time. Leaving my silverware, I pushed open the patio door and saw the sun streaming bright through the thick rain clouds. This glorious moment of rain and sun flooded every sensation within. I ran inside and asked my manager if I could pull out my cell phone to take a photo. She laughed, but enjoyed my childlike enthusiasm and agreed. I ran out to the patio once more and stood in complete solitude for the first time in the day. Rain created the most wonderful of songs as I watched the rays of sun hit the earth. I breathed in and for a moment I found myself standing within peace. I felt my heart beat inside of my chest and I slowly released my lungs and breathed out. The cool breeze wrapped around me as my hair shifted gently around the curves of my face. I closed my eyes and rested. My eyes opened once more and I turned and headed back inside; my heart perfectly still.

this is my friend theresa and i more than 5 years ago now. we met in the 6th grade and we’ve been best friends ever since. this week i flew to minnesota to be with her for a few days…and so far it has been one of the most delightful experiences. i love her in all her captivating beauty. i pray one day you will find a soul like hers – because it’s one worth keeping around forever.

…and i’m still awake.

it’s been only a few short days since boyfriend arrived back in america, but it has been so wonderful! and now in just less than an hour more, my parents will be rolling up to my lovely cali apartment. this has been such a love-filled-WEEK!

i’m exhausted. watching the clock for when my fresh sheets will be done in the dryer. waiting for my mother and fathers arrival. i’m exhausted.

Dream # 13

A couple months back I was challenged to write out a list of 100 dreams. I never knew it would be so hard. But after a few weeks I had successfully dug deep enough within me to discover 100 very diverse things I would absolutely love to do/see/be. Now that it’s been awhile, I still add to the list, and I’m at a total of 109 dreams.

I am a very blessed girl because not only did I get to see one of my dreams come alive yesterday, but I saw this musician perform for free. At church. 2 hours south. My sister and I made a beautiful day trip out of it, and the experience turned out to be one of my most favorite. Sitting in the black folding chair within a large gymnasium of this Sacramento church, I closed my eyes and listened to Shawn’s voice. I breathed in and sighed softly – the sigh of the most satisfied, blessed, and joyous heart.

i love friendship. and i have really beautiful friends. this morning two of my friends and i set out at 7 am to begin a healthy adventure of exercise. that’s a pretty way of saying the three of us got our butts out of bed with the sun to keep each other accountable and get in shape. we gathered in the living room and turned on P90X. we had a good time, and i feel like i personally laughed more at the amazing image of the three of us working out together more than i did focusing on breaking a sweat. but i had a ton of fun! i’m excited for our newfound morning exercise routine – mostly because i get to spend more time with two of the most amazing women ever. but hey, the health benefits are gonna rock as well…!

8 o’clock rolled around and two of us were heading out to shower and start the day…but not before we were given each an amazing hand made journal from katrina! she crafted two of the most lovely things i had ever seen. all because she loves us. i am so blessed! and i now have a delightful new pad to write my need-be’s and thoughts. i’m such a happy girl. thank you katrina!!!!

“once you get over the fear, then it’s a cinch” she said. and she leaped into a mountainous and unexplored region of her heart.
